Slough Council - Chalvey Recreational Ground

Challenge
After consulting the local community about what improvements they would like to see in the Recreational Ground, the largest request was for a footpath with lighting. As there was no electricity supply in the area Slough came to Solar Vision Lighting Technologies (SVLT) via their lighting contract Volker Highways to see if we could repeat the work, we did for them at their Common Rd Langley footpath and give them a solution for this Recreational Ground.

Solution
SVLT visited the site, and then came up with a cost effective design that would provide the right illumination for the footpath.

Outcome
Working with Volker Highways, SVLT completed a GPR survey, marked up the appropriate column locations and then installed 16 ASTRAL Columns, and then programmed them in line with Sloughs requirements. This has now provided the Recreation Ground with a well-lit footpath for the local residents to walk through safely.

CO₂ Savings
Over 25 years this project will have saved our atmosphere 18.4 tonnes of CO₂.

Testimonial
"We are delighted with the result which will allow our residents to feel safer when using the footpath in the evening. As well as enhancing the safety of our residents these Solar lights run wholly off grid helping us move towards our carbon neutral goal for the borough."
