Fairford Town Council - Fairford Park

Challenge
Fairfield Parish Council had recently installed a skate park for the local children and they wanted now to provide lighting to the skate park. Part funding by the council was obtained with the balance going through a crowdfunding campaign.

Their problem was that there was no power to the park. With this in mind, they wanted to find a solar solution.

Solution
The Parish put the project out for tender and after assessing the tenders, the council elected to offer the project to SolarVision Lighting Technologies.

Prior to starting the project, one issue that needed to be considered with the installation was that they already had crash matting around the skate park, so when SVLT did their GPR survey, we were able at the same time to identify the column location so the matting in these areas could be removed temporarily and the columns could be installed without damaging the matting. ASTRAL columns were installed and operating within two days.

Outcome
The children of Fairfield now have a skate park that they can skate on even when the nights draw in. All thanks to the Councils funding initiative.

CO₂ Savings
Over 25 years this project will have saved our atmosphere 4.6 tonnes of CO₂.

Testimonial
"We were delighted with the service we got from SolarVision, from the design all the way through to the installation.

The town had delivered a wonderful skate park for the children of the town and the surrounding villages, the only thing missing were the lights. We had allocated funding from our Crowdfund for lighting but had not decided how best to take that part of the project forward. As there were no services available in the skate park location, we decided that solar was best. We are really pleased with the SolarVision product and service, and our children can now skate in the late evening with a fully lit skate park."
