Challenge
Three Rivers District Council were concerned for pedestrians walking through their Leavesden Park in the late evenings. We understood that the area had no mains connections and the client required a carbon zero off grid product which reduced carbon emissions, and increased renewable energy use within the Borough.
Solution
We understood the restrictions they faced and proposed an entirely new concept to them. Our vertical solar street lights. These required no invasive trenching, concrete contamination, expensive cabling, or grid connections. The columns are fitted with PIR sensors and brighten when motion is detected then dim down after a set period to preserve the battery life. The installation and commissioning took a single day and caused little to no disruption to pedestrians . We utilise a new method of ground works called the Krinner Screw. This reduces installation times as the solar column may be fixed and commissioned immediately after the Krinner Screw has been fixed into position.
Outcome
Solar Vision Lighting Technologies are pleased to announce the installation of a solar street lighting project for Three Rivers District Council. Our solar lighting columns illuminate the new gateway at Leavesden Country Park, Abbots Langley, linking the park with the large new housing development built for Warner Bros. off Langley Lane.
Organisation: Three Rivers District Council
